Saturday: Ducks, Bible Study, and Fatigue

I’ve been waking up early lately, which is not altogether a bad thing. I’d made an agreement with my son yesterday that assuming I woke up in time we’d both go to a Bible study that one of our friends from church does. It’s at Rooster’s Crow. But I’m getting ahead of myself as usual.

Morning walk with ducks

I woke up around 5:30 am. I decided before I did much of anything else to go for a brief walk. We live in the suburban badlands of Madison, AL, so not much of a wildlife preserve. But one of my neighbors apparently has a feeder out for the ducks. Or at least, the ducks are taking advantage of it. I posted a picture of what I saw to LinkedIn: “Man, if I can just get these guys in a row #leadership”

All part of the thought leadership I provide, even on off days.

Saturday Bible Study at Rooster’s Crow

My friend Jerry, my son George, and I started at 8 am to have a Bible study at Rooster’s Crow. Well, eventually we got on-topic. Topics discussed ranged from what the Old Testament appearances of an angel who seems after all to be a lot like the Christ mean (the appearance to Hagar, the appearance to Joshua as they enter the promised land, etc.) to what significance God places on getting His name just right to the inevitable “what topics in the Bible will never make it into the VBS?” Which got a laugh out of a nearby patron. So that made it a good day.

Academic Pursuits

I’ve been trying to decide on a strategy for the two week part of the term that’s ending Friday. I’ve got two classes that I’m taking right now. Mostly it’s reading chapters, taking tests, and the occasional paper to write. If I launch a momentous effort right now, I could actually complete one of my classes this week, leaving me more time to write some papers for the Leadership class which look like they may be time-consuming.

I have an ambition to make it to the UNA campus sometime this coming week as well. The entire class is online, but I’d like to see where I’m going to school.
